Microsoft SNDS Monitoring Guide
Smart Network Data Services for Outlook.com Delivery Management
Version 2026-04 · Cloud Server for Email

What is SNDS?

Microsoft's Smart Network Data Services (SNDS) provides per-IP data about your sending reputation at Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, and Live.com. It shows: IP traffic volume, complaint rate, trap hit rate, and overall IP status (Green/Yellow/Red).

SNDS Registration

  • Go to sendersupport.olc.protection.outlook.com/snds
  • Sign in with Microsoft account
  • Click "Request Access" — enter the IP addresses or IP ranges to monitor
  • Complete email verification from the registrant email address at the IP WHOIS record
  • Access granted within 1-2 business days
  • Register all sending IPs, not just your current problem IPs

Remediation for Yellow/Red Status

  • Pause sending from affected IP immediately
  • Identify the specific campaign or list segment that triggered the status change
  • Check last 48-72 hours of campaigns for unusual segments (purchases, reactivations, cold lists)
  • Remove the problem segment from the sending rotation
  • Implement list hygiene: suppress all 180-day inactive subscribers
  • Send only to high-engagement (30-day openers) for first 2 weeks of recovery
  • Monitor daily until SNDS shows Green for 5+ consecutive days
  • Optionally: submit JMRP enrollment for ongoing complaint feedback data

JMRP: Junk Mail Reporting Program

JMRP provides per-message complaint feedback when Outlook.com users mark your mail as junk. To enroll: sendersupport.olc.protection.outlook.com/jmrp. Provide the email address where complaint feedback should be delivered. Process each JMRP complaint by adding the recipient to your global suppression list immediately.

SNDS data is updated daily. Yellow status alone is not a blocklist — it indicates increased filtering risk. Red status indicates active blocking that requires immediate remediation and may require Microsoft postmaster contact for resolution.
